As an outline to the process, after discussing concepts and needs with a client, I tend to meet with the sitter and take a series of photographs and sketches. This allows us to build some familiarity with the sitter but also means the sitter doesn’t have to be available for hours of live sittings. I find this is the most practical route for all involved and helps the process flow smoothly.

During the production of the final portrait I can have as much or a little contact with the client as they require. Whether you want to see updates of progress or prefer to see the final portrait as a grand reveal, each option works well for me.

The overall process take sroughly one to three months, depending on availability and number of sitters.

As a rough guide to prices for individual sitters…

Small portrait - approximately 30x40cm £1200

Head and shoulders - approximately 40x60cm £1800

Full figure - approximately 60x90cm £2500

Full figure - approximately 70x100cm £2800
