Drew Thomson is a portrait and figurative artist based in Glasgow. His work evokes an atmosphere of calm and contemplation, and explores the power of silence and stillness. With an intent to encourage the viewer to slow down and relax, Drews work depicts figures at ease, in often very minimal settings, reflecting the idea of rest and solitude.
Originally from Aberdeen, Drew studied at Design at Grey’s School of Art. He has since focused his practice on Fine Art working out of his home studio on the South Side of Glasgow. He has exhibited at The Royal Institute of Oil Painters, New English Arts Club, Society of Scottish Artists, Scottish Prize for Fine Art and the Scottish Portrait Awards.
Drew appeared as a contestant on season ten of Sky Arts ‘Portrait Artist of the Year’ where he painted TV presenter Suzanna Reid.
